'Zaregoto Series: Kubikiri Cycle' OVA 8 Air Date, Spoilers: Killer to Reveal Her True Motives in Upcoming Final Installment?

The killer has been revealed, and the mystery at West Crow Feather's Island is about to be concluded on the eighth and final installment of the Japanese short anime series "Kubikiri Cycle: Aoiro Savant to Zaregototsukai (Decapitation Cycle: The Blue Savant and the Nonsense User)."

In a bid to catch the killer red-handed, the yet-to-be-named series narrator, who has been referred to as Boku or "I," conspired with the genius chef, Yayoi Sashirono, to use herself as bait. The plan worked at the expense of I almost dying in Yayoi's place, and the killer revealed herself to be none other than the scholar, Akane Sonoyama.

Akane was previously thought to have died right after the artist Kanami Ibuki was killed in her locked room. Both victims were beheaded, which turned out to have served the most important purpose in Akane's plans.

What was supposed to have been Akane's decapitated corpse was actually Kanami's body, dug out and re-used in order to cover up the fact that Akane was still alive and could now freely roam the mansion without inciting suspicions.

The mystery may have been resolved, but Akane still lives. How can I and the rest of West Crow Island's visitors hope to survive a killer with no motivation for killing other than the sheer satisfaction of watching everyone in the mansion scramble desperately for answers?

And could West Crow's owner, Iria Akagami, really be innocent in all of this, or is she about to play an unexpectedly significant role in the upcoming conclusion of this short anime series?

"Decapitation Cycle: The Blue Savant and the Nonsense User" is based on the "Zaregoto" novel series written by Nisio Isin and illustrated by Take. The final episode of the series was initially scheduled for a home video release in late July, but due to some production issues, the release date has been moved to Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Shaft is producing the series with Yuki Yase serving as director and Yukito Kizawa along with Munemasa Nakamoto taking charge of the episode scripts. Akio Watanabe is responsible for the character designs, while Yuki Kajiura provides the original music.
