Zimmerman Supporter Attacks Legendary Singer Lester Chambers for Dedicating Song to Trayvon Martin (VIDEO)
'She Had a Crazed Look in Her Eye,' Says Friend; Woman to Be Charged With Hate Crime?
A Zimmerman supporter attacked 73-year-old legendary singer Lester Chambers for dedicating a song to Trayvon Martin at a California blues festival. Dinalynn Andrews Potter climbed on the stage and pushed the elderly soul singer down during his performance Saturday.
The Zimmerman supporter was apparently irate at Chambers— he was one fifth of 1960s soul music group The Chambers Brothers— for mentioning the Trayvon Martin case and Zimmerman trial during the song. The singer was performing Curtis Mayfield's "People Get Ready" at the Hayward Russell City Blues Festival when he was knocked down around 5 p.m.
"Let's give a moment of our time to the one that gives us all of his time: I'm talking about the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We need to come together in the mind, in the heart, in the soul … Let's color the world with love," Chambers said.

Chambers' wife, Lola said the singer told audience members that Mayfield would have changed the lyrics from "there's a train comin'" to "there's a change comin'" if he were still alive. Unfortunately, Andrews Potter, a white woman, apparently disagreed.
While Chambers was still singing, Andrews Potter marched up to the stage, climbed on, and pushed the elderly man over.
"It's all your fault!" she screamed, with witnesses alleging she yelled racial epithets as well.
Band members were able to stop her from injuring Chambers further, and his son Dylan detailed the incident on his father's Facebook page.
"Dylan Here.... Lester was just assaulted on stage at The Russell City Hayward Blues Festival by a crazed woman after dad dedicated People Get Ready to Trayvon Martin. He is on the way to the hospital now," he wrote.
"She had a crazed look in her eye," Kurt Kangas, Chambers' friend who was present at the time, told MercuryNews.com. "I saw the devil there."
"She must have been an acrobat. She did it in one leap," Lola added. "He didn't see her coming."
Andrews Potter was arrested by police, charged with battery, then released, Lt. Ruben Pola of the Hayward Police told KTVU news. Additional charges could be brought against the woman.
Chambers was treated for a "bruised rib muscle and nerve damage," his son said, and he is currently recovering at home. His dedication to Trayvon Martin took place the same day the jury acquitted George Zimmerman of all charges in the teenager's killing.
Now a Facebook page has been started called "Charge Dinalynn Andrews Potter With A Hate Crime" based on the shoving of Chambers and the alleged racial slurs she said during the attack.
