ZTE Axon and Axon Lux Unveils for the Chinese Market

ZTE has unveiled a different version of its flagship phone, the Axon, specifically for its home market. At a recent event in Beijing, the company revealed its global flagship phone, the Axon, together with two other technology products. Aside from the Axon phone, ZTE also unveiled an upgraded version of the handset, called the Axon Lux.

According to a Tech Times report, the announcement comes days after ZTE unveiled its high-end flagship phone, the Axon Pro for the U.S. market. Like its U.S. counterpart, the Axon is also a high-end phone, which ZTE hopes will compete with other high-end smartphones in the Chinese market. The phone sports the same technical specifications as the one released in the U.S.

The Axon Lux on the other hand also has the same technical specifications as the Axon, including Corning's Antimicrobial Gorilla Glass, 128 GB of internal storage which is expandable to 250 GB and 3 GB of RAM. The main difference is in the display, the RAM and added biometric security features. The Axon Lux is said to have a 5.5-inch display with 2,560 x 1,440 resolution, has 4 GB of RAM and will have a fingerprint scanner, an eye scanner and software for voice recognition. These additional features are what ZTE hopes will set them apart from the rest of the high-end phones in the market.

Both the Axon and the Axon Lux will come pre-installed with Android 5.0 Lollipop and will sport Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 processor. The Axon phone sells for $435 while the Axon Lux will be pricier at $625.

ZTE Mobile Device's CEO Adam Zeng was on hand during the product launch to talk about the new phone.

"Today's launch marks a significant new chapter in product development for ZTE, and the three devices launched today are results of our ongoing commitment to becoming more consumer-centric in the global market. Following its U.S. debut last week, we are excited to bring our first ever global flagship to China -- a market where our aim is to return to being a top-three smartphone vendor within the next three years," he said.
