ZTE Unveils Blade D6 Smartphone

At the Mobile World Congress in Shanghai, China, ZTE unveiled a new smartphone called the Blade D6 along with other new devices. The Blade D6 is the newest smartphone the Chinese company has announced, after the release of the Blade S6 early this year.

According to a Tech Times report, the Blade D6 looks similar in design with the Blade S6. And since the Blade S6 made some waves when it was released because according to reports, it looked so much like the iPhone 6, the Blade D6 is also being compared in design with the Apple flagship.

The Blade D6 is constructed from aluminium and like the iPhone is only 6.9 mm or 0.23 inches thick. It is slightly taller than its competitor and its display features a 1,280 by 720 pixel resolution. Screen size is at 5 inches and is high definition. It comes pre-installed with Android 5.0 Lollipop with ZTE's proprietary MiFavor 3.2 user interface.

One main difference that the report noted is that the new phone is considered mid-range and therefore should cost less than the high-end iPhone.

Under the hood, the new phone sports the Media-Tek 64-bit quad-core MTK6735 processor, running at 1.3 GHz. It will have LTE connectivity, 2 GB of RAM, dual-SIM support, and 16 GB of expandable internal storage. Battery capacity is placed at 2,200 mAh. These specifications are considered very good for a mid-range phone.

The phone's cameras are impressive as well. The main rear-facing camera is a 13-megapixel one, while the front-facing "selfie" camera is an 5-megapixel one with an 88-degree wide angle lens. One innovation that the phone introduces is its "3-in-2 tray holder" which can "accommodate a micro SIM, nano SIM and a microSD card all in one area.

Its color variants include silver, gold, pink and gray. No exact date was given as to when it will be available, except that it will be "available over the next few months."

ZTE has yet to announce the phone's price. They have revealed that it will be initially available in Australia, Russia and Japan. No announcement whether it will be available in the U.S.
