Faith grows in seasons of uncertainty
God used a season of uncertainty to grow Brendon and Nina’s faith. It was through some of the stormiest days of their infant daughter’s medical crisis that Nina most felt His presence. Brendon and Nina joined Samaritan Ministries in 2018. Two years later their daughter was born, and the first 10 days were beautiful and exhausting – everything you’d expect as a new parent. Then the unexpected happened, their daughter’s oxygen levels dropped, and she was life-flighted from their local hospital to a larger hospital 70 miles away. Brendon was in shock.
Because they were Samaritan members when she was born, they already knew that they weren’t restricted by a provider network, but Brendon was concerned about how they were going to pay for her care. He called Samaritan Ministries, and that concern was put to ease when he heard that her medical bills would be shared with fellow members.
“It was super encouraging to just see the financial provision of God through shares of other members. But especially seeing specific prayers for our daughter, from people across the country like, just meant so much. Just to know that we weren't in this alone.”
Two and half years later River is healthy and thriving. Nina and Brendon remember how family, friends, and the Samaritan community surrounded them with love throughout a scary season of their lives. A season where Nina learned, “If you don’t have hope, borrow hope. If you don’t have faith, borrow faith. If you don’t have joy, borrow joy.”
