105-Year-Old 'Bacon Woman' Reveals Secret to Long-Life Is Bacon Every Day (VIDEO)

A 105-year-old is being nicknamed the "bacon woman" by some after she revealed that her secret to long life was eating a lot of bacon.

Pearl Cantrell, 105, of Texas, has said that she eats bacon every day: "I love bacon, I eat it everyday. I don't feel as old as I am, that's all I can say."

Pearl recently celebrated her birthday over three days, attracting more than 200 guests. However, it became widespread knowledge that Pearl was the "bacon woman" and when bacon seller Oscar Mayer heard about her love for bacon they send over one of its Wienermobiles to her home for the celebration.

Abraham Luna, a "hotdogger" for Oscar Mayer has said, "We've seen a lot of stories on the road, but nothing quite like this one. So we're excited to be here. We know she's an inspiration. Pearl is an inspiration for the community and her friends and family."

Pearl was able to ride on the Wienermobile, but the best treat at all for the birthday girl was the bacon.

According to KRBC, Oscar Mayer has said that it will be sending Pearl a large stash of bacon in the near future as a birthday gift.

Most associate bacon with being unhealthy, however, a March study conducted by the University of Zurich found that eating little to no red meat can lead to a risk of early death.

Red meat, such as bacon, contains important vitamins and nutrients, according to some scientists.

That same study has also promoted that if people limited their daily meat consumption to less than 20 grams, 3 percent of premature deaths could be prevented in a given year.

Of course eating too much bacon is still considered unhealthy, although Pearl Cantrell – a daily eater of bacon – may be the exception.

Here is a video news report into Pearl Cantrell's birthday and love of bacon:
