12th Annual Soompi Awards News: Will Taeyeon and Taemin Have a Duet Soon?

The 12th Annual Soompi Awards has just finished, awarding some of the best and brightest Korean stars that have amassed a legion of fans not only in their country but in the worldwide arena as well. Yet after the ceremonies have ended, the speculations are still in full swing, and it revolves around the two big winners Taeyeon and Taemin.

As per Soompi, Taeyeon has bagged the Best Female Solo award, bringing home the recognition after duking it out against 14 other nominees. The other aspirants included Baek Yerin, Baek Ah Yeon, Ailee, Hyuna, Hyorin, Gummy, Jessica, Yoon Mirae, Tiffany, Suzy, Lee Hi, Kim Na Young, Jung Eun Ji and Jimin.

Taemin, on the other hand, has won the equivalent for his category with the Best Male Solo award. He was picked over 14 nominees, namely Kyuhyun, Lee Juck, Lim Chang Jung, Park Hyo Shin, Ryeowook, Zico, K. Will, Jonghyun, John Park, Han Dong Geun, Crush, Eric Nam and Gary.

Given their identical awards, fans have been clamoring for a collaboration between the two idols. Yibada has speculated that it would probably be a blast to hear the two do wonderful music together after getting awards for their solo performances, and perhaps it is time for them to do a duet.

This wasn't the only time that the two singers were subjects of discussion in which fans wishfully think of them performing as a twosome. Last March 2016, a netizen commented that Taeyeon was strong with digital sales while Taemin rocked with physical sales, and so the two joining forces would arguably be something to reckon with.

Both parties have not reacted as of this time to what their fans would like them to do, although this would definitely be a musical event worth keeping an eye out for. If it happens, it will be a treat for K-Pop fans.
