'13 Reasons Why' Release Date, News: Executive Producer Selena Gomez Shares First Trailer Of Miniseries
The first ever trailer for the upcoming Netflix miniseries "13 Reasons Why" has been released by its executive producer, no less than pop icon Selena Gomez, on Thursday.
Through her Instagram page, Gomez shared the "13 Reasons Why" trailer with her 108 million followers, calling it a "passion project" that she has been working on with Netflix.
In 2011, the novel "Thirteen Reasons Why" by Jay Asher was supposed to be made into a film by Universal Pictures with Gomez as Hannah. But in 2015, there was a major change of plans as it was announced that Netflix would feature the novel's miniseries version while Gomez would work behind the camera as one of its executive producers.
The miniseries "13 Reasons Why" centers its plot on teenager Clay (Dylan Minnette) as he uncovers the reasons why his classmate and crush, Hannah (Katherine Langford) committed suicide a few weeks ago.
The story starts to thicken when Clay finds a cryptic box delivered to his home. He then finds some cassette tapes inside the box with voice recordings from Hannah detailing the reasons behind her tragic decision.
The sneak peek opens by showing Hannah with her voice in the background saying, "I'm about to tell you the story of my life, more specifically, why my life ended."
The reasons that Hannah recorded on the tapes will apparently be connected to the other characters of the show who were also featured in the teaser video. It has been viewed more than 7.2 million times on Gomez's Instagram page.
Viewers will find out what Alex (Miles Heizer), Zach (Ross Butler), Courtney (Michele Selene Ang), Bryce (Justin Prentice), Jessica (Alisha Boe), Jamie (Bryan Box), Justin (Brandon Flynn) and some others did that made Hannah take her own life.
One character can be heard in the background saying, "If one thing had gone differently somewhere along the line, maybe none of this would have happened." On the other hand, another character sounded unapologetic about Hannah's death, saying, "Whatever Hannah thought she saw, she lied about it."
As the characters are shown one by one, the video flashes the line, "They all killed her."
Gomez also shared the official poster of the miniseries, and it features Clay and Hannah with the tagline: "If you're listening, you're too late."
"13 Reasons Why" premieres on March 31 on Netflix.
