2016 Mustang GT EcoBoost unveiled by Ford and Shelby American
Ford and Shelby American have revealed the 2016 Mustang GT EcoBoost that boasts of a lot of improvements.
The latest Mustang model symbolizes Ford's first real attempt to reach other markets beyond the United States. Instead of using the usual V6 or V8 engine, Ford chose to include an EcoBoost engine in the 2016 Mustang GT, according to The Market Business (TMB).
Ford's choice of using an EcoBoost engine signifies the company's nod to the European market, which is made up of consumers who prefer environment-friendly options. Although American drivers do not give much emphasis on affordable gas, it is a big factor for European drivers, so doing away with the V8 engine is a big nod to non-U.S. consumers, the report details.

To complete the goal of targeting non-U.S. markets, the 2016 Mustang GT EcoBoost was first unveiled at the Goodwood Revival in England, the report adds.
Taking a look at the exterior of the 2016 Mustang GT EcoBoost, it is by no means cheap. In fact, the front splitter, rear spoiler, hood, and rocker panel are made of carbon fiber. The new car also sports bigger 20-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 275-35zr20 tires for better handling. In addition, it has improved PedalMax and BoostMax, plus highly tuned BORLA performance exhaust, the Gazette Tribune reports.
"The mission of the car was to develop and deliver balance, lane performance and exhilaration in perfect harmony," TMB quotes Jamal Haneedi of Ford. "I know that sounds a little fluffy but when you drive the car, you'll really get those three sensations all happening at the same time."
Although the total horsepower of the 2016 Mustang GT is now at 335, the fuel economy rate is still the same. Shelby says they designed the car to be lighter and easily maneuvered.
The 2016 Mustang GT EcoBoost will come with a base price of $23,995 with orders on a first-come first-serve basis. Production for the car's right-hand drive version is set to commence this month, while production for the car's left-hand drive versions will begin in January.
