Olympic Medalist Joining Five Trial Events
The trials for the US Olympic Swimming will begin on Sunday and continue until July 3 at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Michael Phelps is expected to take part in five events.
The 30-year-old Phelps is listed for three individual events:100m and 200m butterflies, 200m individual medley, and100m and 200m freestyle. He is also reportedly eyeing to be part of the 4x100m and 4x200m free relays. Finishing with a strong time in the trials would help Phelps increase his chances to be part of the relay event.

The Olympic medalist is trying re-establish his name in swimming after having drinking problems that sent him to a rehabilitation facility two years ago. He claimed that a lot of things have changed in his life after seeking medical help for his issues.
"I don't have anything to be afraid of or anything to hide from," Phelps said. "I want to show people who I really am, because I'm not sure the world has really seen who I am."
Fans are hoping that the swimmer, who won 18 gold medals in past Olympic tournaments, will now turn away from the type of lifestyle that caused him to be suspended for six months. His supporters will surely be looking forward to his performances in the upcoming Rio Games in August, but he needs to go through the trials this week.
