2018 Acura TLX Release Date, Specs News: Updated Performance Sedan to Debut in New York This April
Honda's luxury division, Acura, has announced that the 2018 TLX will make its world debut at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) next month. The five-passenger performance sedan will feature a refreshed design and advanced features, which will make it stand out in its segment.
"The 2018 TLX will receive new styling elements that ratchet up its emotion and reflect Acura's focus on Precision Crafted Performance. Acura customers embraced the MDX when we raised its game with bold, new styling, and we're pumped to show how we're elevating the TLX experience," said Jon Ikeda, vice president and general manager of Acura.
According to the press release, car enthusiasts can expect the 2018 TLX's design language to be more aggressive, alluring and sportier. It is based on the Acura Precision Concept that was introduced in 2016. The updated performance sedan will also share a similar design with the 2017 Acura MDX.

To tease the upcoming launch, Acura has released a teaser image that previews the 2018 TLX. Though the promotional photo does not reveal much, it appears that the refreshed performance sedan will feature a pentagon-shaped grille and more aggressive LED headlights.
Acura also mentioned that the 2018 TLX will be equipped with new premium features and technology enhancements, but specific details have yet to be revealed.
Moreover, reports suggest that the 2018 TLX could receive more powerful engines and a new transmission. On the other hand, there's also a possibility that powertrains will remain unchanged.
The current TLX is offered with a 206-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine or a 290-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine. The former is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission while the latter comes with a nine-speed automatic gearbox.
The newest version of the TLX was designed at the Acura Design Studio in Torrance, California and will be produced at the automaker's Marysville Auto Plant in Ohio.
