2018 Honda Civic Type R Release Date, Specs, Price News: Hot Hatch Now Available at Dealers
Honda has announced that the 2018 Civic Type R is now available to purchase for $34,100.
Last year was the first time the Civic Type R went on sale in the United States. However, the 2017 model only saw a limited production. Now, more car enthusiasts will be able to purchase the hot hatchback touted as the most powerful Honda vehicle available in the country.
The 2018 Honda Civic Type R is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder direct-injected VTEC engine that delivers 306 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The powertrain is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. It will be able to achieve 22 miles per gallon (mpg) during city driving, 28 mpg for highway driving and 25 mpg for combined driving.

The hot hatch will be available in one trim, Touring. Standard features include limited slip differential, dual-axis front suspension, adaptive damper system, a three-mode driving system, Brembo braking system, LED headlights and 20-inch wheels. The exterior also has red Honda "H" and Type R badges to differentiate itself from other Civic models.
As for technologies, the 2018 Civic Type R comes with a seven-inch HondaLink infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility as well as a navigation system with voice recognition, 12-speaker audio system.
Inside, the cabin has been designed to be comfortable and convenient. Notable components include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, sports seats with red accents, aluminum shift knob, power windows and door locks, illuminated vanity mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control system and floor mats, among others.
The high-performance vehicle also comes equipped with safety features such as Vehicle Stability Assist with Traction Control, Anti-Lock Braking System, Brake Assist, LED Daytime Running Lights and a Multi-Angle Rearview Camera.
The 2018 Honda Civic Type R also comes with an additional $890 destination charge, bumping up the starting price to $34,990.
