2018 Infiniti Q50 Release Date, Specs News: Premium Sports Sedan Features Refreshed Design, Semi-Autonomous Tech

The 2018 Infiniti Q50, which comes with a refreshed exterior and interior design, will make its global debut at the 87th Geneva International Motor Show this week.

For the new model year, the best-selling premium sports sedan from Nissan's luxury division has been refreshed to embody the automaker's current "designed to perform" philosophy.

Infiniti has not released specific details yet but based on the promotional image, the new Q50 has been given an updated front fascia with deeper surfaces, more prominent character lines that highlight the grille and new lighting fixtures that are in line with Infiniti's "human-eye" design language.

The 2018 Infiniti Q50's rear is also expected to have a sleeker appearance.

Apart from a refreshed design, it is important for Infiniti to incorporate its latest technologies on the refreshed sports sedan.

According to Automotive News, the 2018 Q50 will be the first vehicle to be offered with the ProPilot Assist package, which bundles all of Infiniti's self-driving features including active lane keeping, backup collision prevention, intelligent cruise control, forward emergency braking, lane departure prevention and blind spot intervention. These semi-autonomous technologies serve to assist drivers while on the road.

Furthermore, the 2018 Q50 will also be equipped with Direct Adaptive Steering, a steer-by-wire system that delivers smooth operation, more responsive steering and easier maneuverability. According to the automaker, Direct Adaptive Steering will serve as the foundation for enabling fully-autonomous driving via the immediate steering reaction.

The 2018 Infiniti Q50 will be powered by the award-winning 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. The powertrain features a direct injection gasoline fueling system and is said to be more fuel efficient that its predecessor. The powerful and responsive engine can deliver either 300 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque or 400 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque.

More details for the new Q50 will be revealed during Infiniti's press conference at the Geneva Motor Show on Tuesday, March 7, at 8:30 a.m. CET.
