2018 Lamborghini Huracan Performante Release Date, Specs, Price News: 640-Horsepower Sports Car Finally Breaks Cover in Geneva
Lamborghini has finally unveiled the Huracan Performante, the high-performance sports car that recently set a new production car lap record of 6:52.01 minutes on Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany.
"This new car represents the powerhouse of Lamborghini DNA and innovation, and a 360 degree approach to creating class-leading super sports cars. It illustrates the pinnacle of Lamborghini V10 production car performance to date, on both track and road, and is perfectly exemplified by its name: Lamborghini Huracán Performante," said Lamborghini CEO Stefano Domenicali.
In terms of design, the Huracan Performante is unmistakably Lamborghini. The sports car's front fascia is refined and sharp with the air intakes and splitter reminiscent of a striking snake's incisors. The racing-inspired rear highlights the vehicle's aerodynamic components while the high-mounted exhaust pipes produce an aggressive and resonant sound.
The Huracan Performante's stunning and aerodynamic design is also evident in the sports car's interior, which can be personalized according to specific preferences of each customer.
To ensure that the supercar's design is functional and properly executed to deliver extreme levels of performance, Lamborghini utilized lightweight technologies, specifically hybrid aluminum and carbon fiber along with the Italian automaker's own Forged Composite material.
Forged Composite offers flexibility to mold geometrical shapes from a single piece but maintains rigidity and stiffness. The award-winning material can be seen in the Huracan Performante's front and rear spoiler, engine bonnet, rear bumper and aerodynamic diffuser. Its use also translates to a weight reduction of 88 pounds.
The Huracan Performante also comes with Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva (ALA), an active aerodynamic system that provides active variation of aero load for high downforce and low drag. Other notable features include a revised suspension, standard electromechanical power steering, an all-wheel-drive system and 20-inch Narvi forged rims with Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires.
The sports car is powered by the automaker's most powerful V10 engine which delivers 640 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. It is able to go from 0 to 62 miles per hour (mph) in just 2.9 seconds with stopping performance from 62 mph to 0 attained in 31 meters.
The 2018 Lamborghini Huracan Performante is priced at $274,390 and first deliveries will start in the summer.
