2018 Volkswagen Atlas SUV Available in May for $30,500
Volkswagen of America has announced that the 2018 Atlas will be available to purchase with a starting price of $30,500 when it arrives at dealerships this May.
The all-new full-size sports utility vehicle (SUV) comes standard with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder direct-injected TSI engine that delivers 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. However, prospective customers can opt for a 3.6-liter VR6 engine with 276 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque.
Both powertrains are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with a front-wheel drive system (FWD), but the latter engine option will also be available with the 4Motion all-wheel-drive system (AWD).
Customers can choose from six different trims and each one will be equipped with a variety of standard features and equipment.
The Atlas S, which starts at $30,500, comes with 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels, stainless steel roof rails, LED headlights and daytime running lights, a rearview camera, six speakers, cruise control and privacy glass. It is features a 6.5-inch Composition Color infotainment system with Bluetooth, a USB port and compatibility with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink.
The Atlas S is available with the V6 engine with FWD ($31,900) or AWD ($33,700).
The Atlas S Launch is a limited-edition trim and as its name implies, will only be available during the SUV's launch. It is powered by the V6 engine and is available with FWD ($33,500) or AWD ($35,300). Apart from the standard features of the Atlas S, this trim also adds a panoramic sunroof, garage door opener, foot lighting, an 8-inch infotainment system and satellite radio.
The Atlas SE model has a starting price of $33,590. Standard features include heated door mirrors, automatic headlights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, fog lights, keyless access, a multi-function leather-wrapped steering wheel, leatherette seats, heated front seats, 10-way power driver seats and an 8-inch infotainment system with satellite radio, eight speakers and three USB ports.
The Atlas SE is available with the V6 engine with FWD ($34,990) or AWD ($36,790).
Meanwhile, the Atlas SE with Technology ($35,690) builds upon the SE's specifications and adds convenience features such as a power liftgate, remote start, three-zone automatic air-conditioning and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. It also comes with advanced driver-assistive technologies like Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Monitoring and Lane Departure Warning,
Customers can also pair this trim with a V6 model with FWD ($37,090) or AWD ($38,890).
The Atlas SEL ($39,160) has all the technology features of the previous trim and adds a panoramic sunroof, Easy Open liftgate, power outlet in the second row, eight-way power passenger seat and memory function for driver's seat and exterior mirrors, as well as Park Distance Control. Opting for the V6 powertrain with FWD will raise the price to $40,890 while AWD will cost $42,690.
Last but not the least, the Atlas SEL Premium ($48,490) comes with a host of luxurious components including a 12.3-inch Volkswagen Digital Cockpit, 20-inch aluminum alloy wheels, LED taillights, navigation, power-folding door mirrors, leather seats, ventilation for front seats, heating function for rear seats, a heated steering wheel and ambient lighting. Additional features of the top-of-the-line model include Parking Steering Assistant, Area View camera and a Fender Premium Audio System with 12 speakers.
The trim comes standard with the V6 engine and AWD.
Volkswagen is also offering optional packages such as captain's chairs ($625), R-Line ($1,960) and black 20-inch aluminum alloy wheels ($995).
Each trim's starting price will incur an additional $925 charge for the destination fee.
