2019 Porsche Cayenne Turbo Specs, Release Date Rumors: 550-hp Truck Set for Fall 2018
The 2019 Porsche Cayenne Turbo is officially here and it might just have stolen the thunder from the recently unveiled Porsche Cayenne.
The beefy variant owes much of its power and performance to its 4.0-liter V8 engine, which churns out an impressive 550 horsepower and 567 pound-feet of torque. That is a 30 hp and 14 lb-ft of torque boost from its predecessor.
The shortened exhaust paths into the turbochargers of the 2019 Porsche Cayenne Turbo paved the way for a more responsive engine, better handling and superior power delivery.
This setup allows the truck to reach 60 miles per hour (mph) in just 3.7 seconds with the top speed clocking at 177mph with the help of the Sport Chrono Package.
As CNET points out, the 2019 Porsche Cayenne Turbo's performance in this department is comparable to that of Hellcat-powered Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk despite its lower horsepower.
Making the truck more beastly is its adaptive rear roof spoiler adding rear-axle downforce and air-brake functionality that cuts down the truck's braking distances.
The 2019 Porsche Cayenne Turbo trades the dual-clutch setup for an eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission paired with a traditional torque converter that should maintain a high tow rating. It also comes with the Porsche Traction Management all-wheel-drive system for efficient wheel power.
The turbo variant also comes with a high-performance tungsten-coated brakes standard boosted by track-ready Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake system for durability.
The 2019 Porsche Cayenne Turbo comes with a much lighter chassis complete with the all-too familiar front and rear wheels and a 48-volt electrical system, all of which make much faster than the Cayenne Turbo S even though it has the lesser horsepower and torque.
On the inside, the truck will boast a 12-inch Porsche Advanced Cockpit high-definition screen and a pair of 7-inch displays sandwiching an analog tachometer from which the features and functions can be controlled. This includes the standard 710-watt Bose sound system and the 18-way front sport seats with integrated headrests and a heated steering wheel.
On the outside, the 2019 Porsche Cayenne Turbo comes with a double-row LED lights and wider 21-inch Turbo-specific wheels and twin tailpipes.
The 2019 Porsche Cayenne Turbo will come with a starting price of $124,600. It will be available for order in December and will be out in fall of 2018.
