9/11 Scheduled Ceremonies: Annual Patriot Day Events in New Jersey for 2016 Commemoration

September 11 ceremonies held annually in counties and cities in New Jersey

Patriot Day is on September 11 and this is marked as the National Day of Service and Remembrances for the 2,977 people that were killed in the September 11, 2001 attacks. Ceremonies and events are held each year to remember the people that have lost their lives in the attacks and those that have also died as they responded to calls for assistance.

Here are just some of the events held in New Jersey, one of the most affected states in the attacks; with hundreds of firefighters from every county responding to emergency calls during that fateful day.

Moorsetown, NJ – Burlington County 200's 9/11 Memorial Prayer Service

This is the club's 15th annual Memorial Prayer Service at the Trinity Episcopal Church at Main Street in Moorsetown. Guest speaker for this year's event is Steve King, coordinator of the Burlington County's Office of Emergency Management.

Millville, NJ – Candlelight Vigil

A special Candlelight Vigil will be held at 6:30 p.m. on September 11 at the Millville Riverfront Park along Buck and Main. If there would be rain, the event will be at the Millville Fire Department at Buck Street.

ineland, NJ – Memorial/ Remembrance Ceremony

Vineland Company No. 4 will hold a September 11 Firefighters Memorial Re-dedication Ceremony on Friday September 9 at 6 p.m. After the ceremony, a free dinner will be provided to fire, police and EMS personnel. The dinner will be at the Semper Marine Detachment Hall and at the Fire Company 4 after the ceremony. Everyone is invited to take part.

On Sunday, a Remembrance Ceremony and a march to Fire Company No. 6 will be held. The ceremony will include a Moment of Silence, an invocation from the Police Chaplain, flag raising and salute and special messages from police officers and residents. The event is open to the public.

Mantua, NJ – Community Remembrance Worship Service

A Community Remembrance Worship Service will be held at the United Methodist Church of Mantua on September 11 at 9:45 a.m. This is also open for everyone. The church will have a supervised nursery and children's service to attend to the children while the services are going on.

Annual Patriot Day Ceremony at Gloucester County will be on September 11 at 8:30 a. at the 9/11 Memorial Place of Reflection inside Chestnut Branch Park in Mantua. This memorial is for residents John Rodak, Nicholas W. Brandemarti, Perry Thompson and for everyone that has lost their lives during the September 11 attacks. The ceremony will include a bell ringing and wreath laying at the memorial.
