9-Year-Old Leads Police to Dead Family and Blood-Soaked Father

A 9-year-old boy appeared at his school in Las Vegas and told his teacher that his mother and sister were dead at home. Authorities then found his mother and sister deceased at home, along with an unharmed 4-year-old brother and his blood-soaked father, who was arrested.

Neighbors have reported hearing shots last night, though no one called authorities. Now, the two boys are left without their parents and sister and have been place in the custody of child protective services. The search is underway to locate relatives in order to avoid separating the boys.

According to authorities, the grown man was taken to the hospital in handcuffs, suffering from a head injury. He is expected to survive. As of now, it is unknown what the motive for the brutal killing is.

"We get one shot at a homicide scene," a police spokesman told the Associated Press. "Our number one priority is to find out what happened. Right now we don't know what happened," he added.

Police have been working diligently and carefully to gather evidence and not disturb anything. They have also cordoned off the entire block in order to prevent any tainting of the crime scene.

The principal of the boy's school has refused to speak about what her students have been told and what is planned for the future. Clark County School District spokeswoman Amanda Fulkerson has told AP that crisis units are currently working at the school to help students "sort out emotions and details of a tragedy that claimed the life of a student."

Right now students are being reminded that their school "is always a safe zone with caring adults that can help in uncertain situations," Fulkerson stated.

People are reacting to the boy's story and actions with shock and distress.

"So this poor little boy got up, saw his family dead, got dressed and went to school? This is by far one of the saddest stories I have ever read," Huffington Post user Carla777 commented.

"What horrors some children must endure!" added Sarah Armstrong.
