Hit show 90210 will be ending its series run after its current season.

After five seasons it has been confirmed that the show will be coming to an end on May 13 when the finale episode of the season airs.

The news comes despite the show featuring a number of guest stars, including Michael Jackson's eldest son, Prince Michael.

CW president Mark Pedowitz has said, "The CW has had five great seasons with America's favorite zip code, '90210. I'd like to thank the talented cast, producers and crew for all their hard work and dedication to the series. We are very proud of the West Beverly High alumni," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Even though the show is one of the most recognizable on the drama show landscape, it hit a series low in its Feb. 18 episode, when it hit a 0.2 rating among adults aged between 18 and 49. That show only drew 550,000 viewers.

The current season has been averaging 0.4 in that same demographic, and receiving an average of 928,000 viewers.

The current 90210 series first landed in 2008 and was a spin-off from the long-time hit show "Beverly Hills 90210." That original series lasted 10 seasons - twice as long as its successor.

90210 went on a mid-season break on Dec. 10, 2012, and returned on Jan.21, 2013, at a new time slot of 9:00 p.m., one week after the premiere of The Carrie Diaries, which took its original time slot of 8:00 pm.

On Jan. 13, 2013, Pedowitz had stated that 90210 would most likely be back next year for season 6, as he was a "big believer in giving fans a very satisfactory conclusion."

However, on Feb. 28, 2013, the CW announced that the fifth season of the series will be the last, and it will end on May 13, 2013.
