$99 HP TouchPad Sale: $149.99 TouchPad Now Available for WebOS Developers

Hewlett-Packard announced over the weekend that it has put its 32GB TouchPad tablet on sale again, this time for webOS developers, offering the device for $149.99 with the use of a special coupon and over a limited period of time.

The personal electronics giant is offering hte TouchPad for $149.99 in the United States and Canada, for €150 (U.S. $206) in Europe, and £130 (U.S. $208) in the United Kingdom. Developer requests for coupons are to be submitted by Nov.18 to be considered. The coupons are to be valid through Nov. 27 and HP employees are not eligible for the promotion, the company declared.

HP did not specify how many devices are available in this sale, but by Tuesday it was already out of its promotional stock. The company currently claims that it has more requests than it has coupons, and is therefore temporarily not accepting any more of the former.

HP said it accepts no returns or exchanges in this promotion.

Throughout the online fora and blogs, those who did not get lucky in obtaining a coupon are trying to buy them off each other.

TouchPad tablet, which gathered mediocre reviews upon its launch, later became the subject of most tech conversations when HP started selling it for $99. The device's operating system was discontinued in the summer when retailers were complaining that they were not able to move the tablet and had it sitting around in overstock.

But after the price was slashed, the device immediately started flying off shelves and became one of the most sought-after and hard-to-find tablets on the market.

Meg Whitman, the new CEO of Hewlett Packard confirmed in late October that the company will continue to specialize in manufacturing and selling hardware.

Although the HP TouchPad was discontinued, HP will still make tablets, but now the company will include Windows 8 and not WebOS as the operating system for the devices.
