$99 HP TouchPad Sale: Features Consumers Are Getting for Markedly Low Price
With the HP TouchPad selling for just $99, gadget lovers everywhere are eager to get their hands on the soon-to-be discontinued device that, although initially flopped in sales, has become a hit since HP dramatically marked down the price from $500 this past summer. Since then, the remarkably low price has had fans scrambling to snatch up the last of the devices.
But are consumers really getting more than what they pay for? Here is a list of some of the features consumers can expect from the tablet that is priced to put competition such as the iPad, Motorola Xoom and BlackBerry Playbook to shame:
• webOS: Software allows users to move effortlessly through multiple applications and enables easier Web browsing. Consumers can search the Web while checking their email and move smoothly between several open browsing tabs.
• Camera: The TouchPad comes with an integrated webcam and microphone to enable video communication.
• Processor: Contains a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core APQ8060 processor, providing fast speeds that enable multiple tasks to be performed at once.
• Wireless Support: Has built-in Wi-Fi that allows for internet access as well as the sending and receiving of email. Its Bluetooth technology also enables wireless short-range communication.
• Sensors: TouchPad can detect the way a user moves, and adjusts when he or she moves horizontally or vertically.
• ePrint: TouchPad can print to wireless enabled HP printers or any ePrint enabled printers over Wi-Fi, enabling consumers to print documents from wherever they are. Users only have to send an email to any HP printer’s email address.

HP recently announced the production of 200,000 more TouchPads during late October to satisfy recent consumer demands. The tablets will ideally sell at $99 for 16GB and $149 for 32GB, although those prices are not certain because HP is allowing individual retailers to price the TouchPad themselves.
