A Love Interest For Barry In Second Episode Of 'The Flash,' Jay Garrick Is The 2nd Flash
The second episode on "The Flash" is titled, 'Flash Of Two Worlds,' where Jay Garrick is the Second Flash. Will he team up with 'Barry' Flash or go against him? Patty Spivot enters this season and will get to stay as a series regular. Is she the new love interest for Barry/Flash?
At the end of the premiere episode of "the Flash" Season 2, Jay Garrick arrives at the S.T.A. R. Labs and tells the team in an ominous voice that Earth is under threat by Zoom.
The character of Jay Garrick, who in the comic book is the original Golden Age Flash since 1940, will be played by Teddy Sears. The official characterization of Jay Garrick reads: "Jay is a mysterious figure who arrives in Central City to warn Barry Allen and his team at S.T.A.R. Labs of an impending danger that he alone cannot hope to stop."
No guesses from where Jay has arrived. Of course he has arrived from Earth-2, which is our Earth's counterpart in a parallel reality. He will be transformed into Crimson Comet another incarnation of Flash.
Showrunner Andrew Kreisberg said, "Having Jay Garrick come onto the show was one of our earliest ideas. It is so exciting, as we rush into season two, that we finally get to bring the Crimson Comet to life. We couldn't imagine anyone more suited to play the original Flash than Teddy."
The next character to come in is Patty Spivot, who is obsessed with the meta humans and teams up with Det. Joe West to deal with them. Not only will this create complications but Patty is slated to become the new love in Barry's life. According to Entertainment Weekly, "Patty is obsessed with metahumans and partners with Det. Joe West this season but has no idea that her new crush is the Flash."
Shantal VanSanten will be playing the character of Patty Spivot. Kreisberg said, "We were huge fans of 'The Messengers' and are excited to have Shantel join us to help complicate Barry Allen's love life in season two."
