Aaron Hernandez Update: Club Surveillance Could Link Player to 2012 Double Homicide

Surveillance footage of Aaron Hernandez at the same Boston club as two victims who were killed hours later in a drive-by shooting has surfaced casting further suspicion on the former NFL player. Hernandez is currently facing charges for first-degree murder in the death of Odin Lloyd.

Authorities have uncovered surveillance footage of Aaron Hernandez spending time at a Boston club in 2012 alongside two men who were killed later that night, sources told a local newspaper. Daniel Abreu, 29, and Safiro Furtado, 28, of Dorchester, Mass. were found dead on July 16, 2012 following a drive-by shooting involving a gray SUV.

Reports speculated in June that Hernandez might have had some kind of involvement in the unsolved 2012 double-homicide. Eyewitnesses who recalled the shooting described an SUV with Rhode Island license plates driving up to a Boston club and opening fire before driving away. In July, a similar SUV, matching the description offered by witnesses was discovered at the home of Hernandez's uncle, who lives in Bristol, Conn.

Before the drive-by shooting occurred, Abreu and Furtado had been involved in a fight with another group at a local nightclub. That group allegedly included Hernandez. New surveillance footage, allegedly taken from the nightclub, proves that Hernandez was there that night, according to The Hartford Courant.

Last month police linked the gun used in the drive-by shooting to a weapon uncovered after a June 21 car accident in Springfield, Mass. Jailene Diaz-Ramos, 19, was identified as the driver. She claimed the gun ended up in her car after a man who went by the name of "Chicago" and "some of his friends" put belongings in her trunk. Ramos is originally from the same hometown as Hernandez in Bristol, Conn.

Hernandez has been further linked to the 2012 shooting after reports suggested that Odin Lloyd might have had knowledge of the crime, thus providing motive for his death. Hernandez is currently awaiting trial in prison for first-degree murder. He has pleaded not guilty.

Police believe Lloyd was killed following a dispute that had occurred between him and Hernandez while at a Boston nightclub a few days before Lloyd's body was discovered.
