Acer New $99 Tablet: 7-inch Iconia B1 Pre-orders Start in Early 2013? [PHOTO]
Acer is releasing a new $99 tablet with a 7-inch display and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS that is expected to start pre-orders and sales in early 2013, with a rumored launch at next year's Consumer Electronics Show.
The Acer's new $99 tablet, the Iconia B1-A71 Android tablet, reportedly has the following specs: 7-inch 1,024 x 600 pixel display, a 1.2 GHz Mediatek MT6577 dual-core processor and 512 RAM. It comes with a striking blue-edge shell and a 1.3MP camera.
Reports of the dream-priced $99 tablet was announced by Wall Street Journal, which says the device is intended for consumers in developing countries. Leaked photos of the Acer Iconia B1 tablet first surfaced in December on a Serbian forum.

With those specs and features, Acer's Iconia 1B is expected to light up competition in the 7-inch tablet market occupied by Kindle Fire, Nook Color, and Google Nexus.
The new $99 tablet from Taiwanese manufacturer Acer can also add up to 8GB memory via microSD, microSDHC, TransFlash.
Connectivity options include a USB 2.0 client, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wireless LAN 802.11.
The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) has already cleared the Acer Iconia B1 but it may not be sold in the United States.
Techulator reports that Acer will launch the $99 Iconia B1 at the CES 2013 during which the Asus ME172V, projected to be the next-generation Google Nexus tablet, will also be unveiled.
The new Nexus tablet will have a starting price tag of $129 to $149 and may drop below $100 over time. The device will have a 7-inch screen, dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 16GB internal memory, and come in white and black colors.
So far, the only tablet that has come close to the $99 price tag has been the HP TouchPad.
