Acer Predator 8 Update: Gaming Tablet Available for Pre-Order, Specs Include 8-Inch Display, Intel Atom X7 Processor
Good news for all the gamers. Acer's first gaming tablet dubbed as the Predator 8 is now available for pre-order. According to Design & Trend, the said device can now be pre-ordered in the U.S. directly from Acer or from Newegg.
Its arrival has been delayed but it's here now after being launched at IFA back in September. Android and Me noted that the tablet isn't exactly the best gaming tablet available around but it does comes with an 8-inch 1,920 x 1,200 resolution IPS LCD display, which is actually perfect enough for a gamer's needs and even for viewing of 1080p videos.
The device is also equipped with an Intel Atom x7-Z8700, a quad-core chip running at 1.6 to 2.4 GHz. According to Slash Gear, the x7 is considered the high performance model of the Atom trio. However, it is still a level lower than a Core m.
The RAM count is only 2 GB so some might find the tablet a bit hampered for gaming. It also comes with an internal storage of 32 GB that can be further expanded via microSD slot. Giving it life and power is a 4420 mAh battery which Acer claims to provide up to eight and half hours of battery life.
Latin Post also detailed that the tablet boasts Acer's TacSense technology, which gives force feedback and vibrations for better gameplay, as well as Predator MediaMaster, a feature that lets users customize video and audio sliders to enhance their gaming and multimedia experiences.
In terms of the design, the Predator 8 isn't after winning the best-looking Android tablet as it looks more similar to its Predator line of gaming computers and accessories than a traditional tablet. It has a thick build which gives it a better grip and allows it to house four front-facing speakers for better audio experience.
It also carries with it a 5-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel front camera. The OS that runs the tablet is an unspecified version of the Android Lollipop but it's likely to receive the Android Marshmallow update.
The Acer Predator 8 is sold at a price of $299.99 and shipping started Nov. 13.
