Acer unveils budget options Liquid Jade Z & Liquid Z410 in U.S.
When it comes to smartphones, the expensive ones gets most of the spotlight. But it doesn't mean that budget phones no longer have a place in the tech realms, and Acer just proved that when they announced that they would be releasing to the American market two unlocked Android smartphones by the month of September. The smartphones, namely the Liquid Jade Z and Liquid Z410, will both arrive in the U.S. after a few months of sale in Asia.
The decision to market in America is a new thing for the tech company since according to Digital Trends, Acer usually avoids the country because the company puts more focus in their main markets which have always been in Southeast Asia. They are also going to bring smartphones that will entice consumers whose budgets are lower than the prices of devices from industry leaders Apple and Samsung.
Between the two handsets, the Liquid Jade Z is the premium one, as noted by Android Central. The star device comes with a 5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and Zero Air Gap technology which is designed to decrease glare from the sun. It also has a voice-activated 13MP camera that has a fast f1.8 lens that is great when it comes to low-light conditions. Users can enjoy a feature called "Bright Magic" which incorporates multiple shots into the same photo for improved quality. The front camera is 5MP and comes with an f2.2 aperture.
It is powered by a 64-bit 1.5GHz quad-core MediaTek processor and users can choose between 16GB of onboard storage with 1GB of RAM or 16GB of onboard storage with 2GB of RAM. Aside from that, it also carries HD speakers and a 2300 mAh battery.
Meanwhile, the Liquid Z410 is a lower-end device. It is powered by a quad-core 1.3 GHz Mediatek MT6732M SoC and sports a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera. Interested buyers can pick between 1 GB of RAM and 8GB of storage, or 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. Just like the Liquid Jade Z, Liquid Z410 supports microSD cards, dual-SIM and LTE.
Both of Acer's smartphones run on Android 4.4.4 KitKat and are available in the price range of $129 to $249 at retailers in the US.
