Adele Fans Get Frustrated Over 2016 North American Tour Tickets
Adele's chart-topping new album "25" has been a phenomenal success, smashing sales records left and right, so it's no surprise that people would be clamoring to see the "Hello" singer" perform live.
Tickets to Adele's 2016 North American tour, her first in over four years, became available on Thursday morning and sold out within minutes. Both Ticketmaster and Stubhub had long wait times and within hours, mobs of fans were venting their frustrations on the Internet.
After the tickets went up for sale at 10 a.m. CST, ticket outlets were instantly overwhelmed by customers hoping to see Adele live in concert. It wasn't long, however, before fans trying to score tickets became sad, exasperated, and angry because they either had to wait in queues for hours or couldn't get the tickets at all. Many expressed outrage over third party ticket sellers who had begun selling the concert passes for absurd sums of money.
One Adele fan posted a screenshot of a Stubhub seller retailing a ticket of Adele's July 13 Chicago concert for $7490. Another Twitter photo of a Stubhub page showed concert tickets going for $2425.99. The Twitter user who posted it captioned the screenshot, "There's a special place in hell for these people on Stubhub."
Many of the complaints over the ticket fiasco were directed at Ticketmaster, whose website supposedly experienced glitches on Thursday morning.
Adele's 2016 tour will begin in St. Paul, Minnesota on July 5 and culminate with a concert in Mexico City on Nov. 15. The singer will perform across North America on 56 dates. She will be at Staples Center in Los Angeles, performing on 6 different days from August 2 to 17, and will also hold 6 concerts in New York City's Madison Square Garden.
The 2016 Adele North American tour will follow the singer's U.K. and Europe tour, tickets for which have already sold out.
