Adrienne Bailon Defends Herself by Comparing Fame and Career
Adrienne Bailon is defending comments about Rob Kardashian that prompted his sisters to speak out against her.
Bailon, the 30-year-old entertainer and co-host of "The Real" talk show, spoke out about her ex-boyfriend Rob Kardashian as the most recent covergirl of Latina magazine. She revealed that filming her relationship for "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" almost hurt her career, which angered his sisters.
Since Rob has been struggling with depression, his sisters Kim and Khloe accused Bailon of kicking their brother while he is already down. Now, Bailon is taking to Instagram to explain her position on the matter.
After Kim accused Bailon of using her family's name to land a magazine cover, the singer defended her value as an entertainer.
"Fame and a Career are two different things. I've always had a career," Bailon wrote. "I have been working hard since I was 15-years-old. Being someone's 'girlfriend' was never what I wanted to be famous for."
She then went on to seemingly address the Kardashian sisters who lashed out on her via Twitter.
"What makes you 'famous' isn't always what you want to be 'labeled' as, or known for. If anyone should understand that … It should be you," Bailon wrote. "I also stated in the article that none of this would have stopped me from being in love and being in that relationship. I just would have gone about it differently."
Bailon seemed to reflect on learning from her first love in the Instagram message.
"You can love someone just as much in private," she wrote. "We all learn from our first loves."
Bailon's Instagram message came after Kim posted a scathing message on her own Twitter account.
"Funny how she says being with a Kardashian hurt her career yet the only reason she has this article is bc she is talking about a Kardashian," Kim tweeted. "So sad when people try to kick my brother when he is down #FamilyForever."
