'Adventure Time' Open World Game Coming to PC and Consoles in 2018

"Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion" is coming next year, and just like the TV series, it's an open-world adventure set in the Land of Ooo. Additionally, the game will feature voices from the show's cast.

This new "Adventure Time" game is being developed by Outright Games and Climax Studios and will feature an original story, as Polygon notes. Four characters from the show have been confirmed as playable characters, including Finn, Jake, BMO and Marceline.

The game will be out for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC sometime in spring 2018.

"The Land of Ooo is underwater, and it's up to Finn and Jake to find out why," Outright Games wrote in their plot summary, adding that aside from exploring dangerous waters, Finn and the crew will also have to find clues, interrogate pirates, and do some fighting to solve the mystery of the flood.

At the start of the game, the characters have been separated by the sudden flood. All four playable characters can roam the in-game world freely from the start, as players try to get the group back together as soon as possible.

The group, as they make progress in untangling the mystery, will gain items, spells and potions that will prove crucial in the "fast-paced tactical combat" that they will face often.

Once the crew is back, they can explore the now-submerged Land of Ooo by boat.

Outright Games is also asking fans to submit name ideas for the vessel. Fans have until Jan. 2, 2018 to submit their ideas via the site's online form, after which a special poll will be held on their Facebook  page to determine the winner.

Meanwhile, the "Adventure Time" TV series is about to end, with its final season airing in 2018.
