'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Season 3 News, Update: Season Opener Details Unveiled; Fitz 'Goes to Extreme Length' To Find Simmons

It's always the race against time for the fearless characters in Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." In Season 2, the team tackled HYDRA. Season 3, however, will see Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) and his operatives looking for super-powered people, Inhumans, as fast as possible.

Details for the Season 3 primer, titled "Laws of Nature," were recently released by ABC (via ScreenRant) and it revealed that S.H.I.E.L.D. will be up against another organization in the mission to reach out for these special people.

As stated in the synopsis, the brand new opening episode will find Director Coulson and Agent Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet) "leading the charge as S.H.I.E.L.D. searches the world for more powered people in the aftermath of their epic battle with Jiaying and her army of Inhumans."

Coulson and Co., however, will soon discover "they are not the only group looking for these new Inhumans."

The summary went on to indicate another important storyline involving Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and his search for the missing Agent Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge).

For those who missed it, Jemma disappeared into the abyss when a mysterious alien stone devoured her in her whole form. As expected, Fitz is prepared more than ever to find the lost personnel.

However, the synopsis from the network said that the engineer may do something beyond what his duty calls for him to do as it is said that he will go "to extreme lengths to try to learn how to get her back."

The sad part is Fitz will probably be taking on this ordeal by himself as the rest of the team is quite preoccupied dealing with the outbreak of the Inhumans.

Making it worse is that Coulson and the crew may have already given up on finding Simmons.

"What happened was so crazy and there was no trace of her, that what do you do?" Henstridge said in an interview with Zap2It (via Enstarz). "I think that the whole team has tried and nothing has worked, so at some point you have to go, 'She's gone, we have to move on.' But Fitz refuses to do that."

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 3 premieres Tuesday, September 29 on ABC.
