'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Season 4 Episode 16 Spoilers: Daisy Reunites With Dead Ex-Boyfriend
Daisy (Chloe Bennet) will have to deal with the fact that Grant Ward (Brett Dalton) is back in her life in the upcoming second half of the current installment of Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."
The promo for the midseason premiere reveals that Daisy will wake up in an alternate reality after trying to hack into AIDA's (Mallory Jansen) framework. When she opens her eyes, she is in a bathtub at a strange apartment. A photo displayed shows her smiling at the camera and being embraced by a man. That person is Ward. Whatever world she is currently in, Daisy knows it is not real. Ward is dead. Lincoln (Luke Mitchell) sacrificed his own life to kill the villain. It is inconceivable that Ward is alive and living with her.
In an interview with TVLine, executive producer Jed Whedon broke down the events that took place during the last finale. According to him, Daisy and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) are probably the only ones who know that they have been transported to a duplicate world created by Dr. Radcliffe (John Hannah) using the Darkhold's awesome power. It will be interesting to see how Daisy will react to Ward when she finally sees him face to face.
"Somehow, using the 'magic' — but we know it's actually hardcore science! — of the Darkhold, they were able to duplicate everything in our world. What that means, we'll see develop, but we can tell from her reading that text and her reaction, she's aware where she is, unlike some of the glimpses we got. She's clearly aware that she's in this alternate reality, whereas I don't think anyone she encounters will be," the EP said.
Meanwhile, Simmons' storyline will also be one of the highlights in the upcoming episode. Viewers got the idea that she is dead in the alternate reality. The teaser shows that Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) is involved with a different woman. Whedon made it clear, though, that it is not the end for Simmons.
Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 4 will return on Tuesday, April 4 at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
