Coulson Goes After Mace in 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Season 4

ABC has put out the "Agents of Shield: LMD" season 4 episode 14 sneak peek trailers. The newest installment of the Marvel adaptation is titled "The Man Behind Shield" and will air on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 10:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST).

Previously on episode 13, Jeffrey "The Patriot" Mace (Jason O'Mara) has fallen into the hands of anti-inhuman group leader Anton "The Superior" Ivanov (Zach McGowan). Mace has taken it upon himself to risk using his super-serum and charged headlong into the Watchdog's ambush. He has been missing since. After the explosive encounter with Tucker Shockley (John Pyper-Ferguson) and Ivanov's men, Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) finally had the situation under control and moved on with a contingent of Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division (S.H.I.E.L.D.) to search for Mace.

On episode 14, Mace would be revealed to be alive but captured by The Superior. Meanwhile, Coulson, Daisy "Skye" Johnson (Chloe Bennet), Alphonso "Mack" MacKenzie (Henry Simmons) and a handful of S.H.I.E.L.D. escorts have tracked the Watchdogs to a hideout. While in there, they found clues to the objective of Ivanov, along with The Patriot's discarded suit.

On the wall of the hideout is a map covered with notes and pictures of Coulson. Ivanov, it turns out, wants him and is likely using Mace as bait. Coulson and team have little choice but to take it, and goes in to attempt a rescue.

In another room, Mace is having an inconvenient talk with The Superior. He is shirtless, battered, and restrained — but alive. It seems he has survived his gamble with the super soldier serum and has not succumbed to cardiac arrest. Aida 2.0 (Mallory Jansen) watches impassively as Ivanov shares a bit of his past, then sticks a knife into Mace, causing him a minor cut.

"They will come for me," Mace informs his torturer. "That is the plan," Ivanov said before leaving.

Will the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents get the best of the cat-and-mouse game improvised by Ivanov? Find out this Tuesday if Coulson and the team will succeed in rescuing the Patriot.
