'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' Season 5 Spoilers: Mack and Elena's Relationship to Improve

Mack (Henry Simmons) and Elena (Natalia Cordova-Buckley) will be in a better place when it comes to their relationship in the upcoming season of Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."

Although they have been through a lot, the couple has managed to stay together and endure all the struggles life has for them. According to Hypable, problems will continue to crop up for Mack and Elena, but they are more than ready to handle the difficulties. In an interview, both Simmons and Cordova-Buckley agreed that their characters have reached the point where trust will no longer be an issue.

"There's always a bit of conflict between them, which I like. When you go through something like that you see what people are made of. It will reveal your true nature," Simmons said.

"They're still quite shaken up by what happened but at the same time it'll be a challenge but they have to get over it because they have a bigger challenge. Personal conflict takes a back seat where they're at," Cordova-Buckley added.

Meanwhile, if Mack and Elena will be fine with their romance, Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) will remain at an impasse. The couple will reportedly be back to square one, starting off as friends, hoping that soon enough, they will get over the traumatic experience they faced in the last installment. Fitz will have trouble dealing with his guilt, while Simmons will be unable to forget her pain.

The new season is also expected to feature another couple. Spoilers indicate that Bobbi Morse (Adrianne Palicki) will end up accompanying her husband Lance Hunter (Nick Blood) when he decides to return to S.H.I.E.L.D. Both were disavowed when they chose to leave the team in the past. Although Blood is confirmed to return in the show, Palicki is not. She said, though, that she would be more than happy to come back.

Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 5 two-hour premiere will air Friday, Dec. 1, at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
