Aladdin and Jasmine Reunite Decades Later to Sing 'A Whole New World'
More than two decades after Aladdin and Jasmine first took the audience to the most amazing "magic carpet ride" as they sang to the tune of "A Whole New World," a song that saw many weddings and engagement parties become a success, the two voices behind the award-winning song have reunited.
"Aladdin" took the hearts of not only children but adults and teens alike when it was first released in 1992. In a special appearance on "Good Morning America" last Friday, Brad Kane, now 42, and Lea Salonga, now 44, have reunited to once again bring fans to the magic carpet ride that continues to engulf the world in love.
According to People, Kane was only 19 and Salonga was 21 when they sang the song that is still being played in weddings, engagements, and everywhere it seems fit. The two have reunited to sing the song that won the Grammy for Song of the Year in 1993 in celebration of "Aladdin's" re-release in "Diamond Edition" on BlueRay.
Multiple outlets state that the two voices remained the same despite the many years that could have withered the veteran singers' voices. Oscar winner composer Alan Menken, who won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1992, accompanied the two as they once again had people hold their breaths to the tune of the magical song.
Also with them during the special performance is Jasmine's speaking voice actress Linda Larkin and Aladdin's, Scott Weinger. Salonga posted a picture of her and Larkin on set with the caption "Jasmine and Jasmine! This is Linda Larkin, the actress that spoke for the Princess. #Aladdin," which garnered thousands of likes within a few days.
The "Diamond Edition" of "Aladdin" includes other bonus footages and never-before-seen footages of the late Robin Williams' "Genie," which is considered by his fans as a tribute to the prominent comedian who gave color to the character.
