Alert! 2016 Hurricane Season is the Strongest One Since 2012 - The Forecast
Experts predict several big hurricanes in the coming months.
The upcoming hurricane season will be stronger than last year. Several sources declared that the upcoming season will be the most active since 2012.
Dr. Phil Klotzbatch, lead forecaster at the CSU, released a forecast for the Atlantic hurricane season this year, saying that there will be 14 storms, six hurricanes and two major hurricanes.
On the other hand, a forecast by The Weather Company predicted the same number of storms for this season. However, it was said that there will be eight hurricanes and three major hurricanes.

With that, people can expect hectic weather in the coming months as the said number of hurricanes are far greater than the 30-year average, which is 12 name storms, six hurricane and three major hurricanes.
According to the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale, a major hurricane is defined under Category 3 or higher. The forecasts also revealed that the upcoming months will bring the strong and rare Hurricane Alex. It will also bring Tropical Storm Bonnie that has heavy rainfall though less stronger.
Klotzbach reports that transition from El Nino to the 2016 hurricane season will bring a big hurricane. He adds that El Nino's influence in the hurricane season will largely depend on how strong it is.
Klotzbatch also explained that the increase in rainfall in the past years is a sign of the hurricane season's gravity. He said, "Over twice as many hurricanes impact the United States in La Nina years vs. El Nino years. #ElNino"
Press of Atlantic City spoke to Expert Dan Kottlowski, who explained that this year's hurricane season will be greatly influenced by the water masses.
"During the early part of the season, of course, we look off the Southeast coast of the United States, where we've already had one with Bonnie, but we also look in the Gulf of Mexico especially the northwestern portion of the Caribbean into the Gulf of Mexico," Kottlowski revealed.
With that, people are expected to take preparation and early precautions for the upcoming season. Lead seasonal hurricane forecaster of NOAA Climate Prediction Center Gerry Bell, Ph.D., said, "This is a more challenging hurricane season outlook than most because it's difficult to determine whether there will be reinforcing or competing climate influences on tropical storm."
