'Alien: Covenant' Release Date News: Coming Out May 19; New Preview Trailer Released
The second "Alien" movie to be directed by Ridley Scott is coming to theaters on May 19, and 20th Century Fox has released a teaser trailer this time, introducing Michael Fassbender as "Walter" in a fictional advertisement.
The new teaser trailer shows Michael Fassbender's second character in "Alien: Covenant," as reviewed by Den of Geek. Fassbender plays another synthetic humanoid character, this time as Walter. In the video snippet, Walter looks to be a commercial product designed to interact with humans as a robot assistant. The trailer even invites the viewers to avail of their own unit. "Created to serve," as the mock advertisement shows, the teaser gives a convincing and creepy vibe that gives much of the depth of the futuristic setting of the new "Alien" movie.
"Alien: Covenant" has been announced to come out in movie theaters on May 19, 2017. This new date is a small setback from the May 12 announcement from the teaser poster that 20th Century Fox released earlier, as covered by Games Radar. However, the new date is still much sooner that what was originally planned by the movie production team. Several months earlier in fact, as the original release date for "Alien: Covenant" is supposed to be all the way later to August 2017, as the first release time frame was planned out.

By moving the release earlier to a more competitive date just before the Memorial Day weekend, Fox could be showing very strong confidence in its new "Alien" installment, as Den of Geek points out.
The official trailer for the movie has also been released earlier, and the basic plot outline has a new crew exploring an unknown planet. The official "Alien: Covenant" movie website reads: "The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape."
