'Amazing Spider-Man' DVD Release Date Announced for Nov. 9

"The Amazing Spider-Man" DVD release date has been announced for Nov. 9.

This past summer's multimillion-dollar blockbuster will be released on both DVD and Blu-ray on that date.

Customers will be able to purchase the film in either a regular Blu-ray, or Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack that also comes with a DVD. It will also come in a limited edition gift set.

Extra features that come with the movie include deleted scenes, audio commentary, a second screen app that provides trivia information, along with Spider-Man and Lizard figurines.

The film stars Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man and Emma Stone as his love interest Gwen Stacy. Spider-Man's villain The Lizard was played by Rhys Ifans and the movie also starred Dennis Leary as Capt. George Stacy.

"The Amazing Spider-Man" was directed by Marc Webb and is the highest grossing reboot of all time, beating out 2005's "Batman Begins." The new beginning to the Batman saga jumpstarted what has been the most successful comic book movie franchise of all time with Christopher Nolan's reimagining of The Dark Knight.

Two sequels for "The Amazing Spider-Man" have been announced, and Garfield and Stone are expected to return for the next installments. A U.K. release date for the DVD and Blu-ray should be announced soon.

"The Dark Knight Rises," the other major blockbuster of the summer, could be available on Blu-ray and DVD as early as Nov. 30.

This information leaked from Amazon Germany, who normally is one of the first retailers to post up release dates for upcoming products. The site has already posted up Friday, Nov. 30 2012 as the day both the Blu-ray and DVD version of "The Dark Knight Rises" will arrive in stores.

The listing could be a mistake since Friday is an uncommon day for Blu-ray and DVD releases. But Warner Bros., the studio responsible for "The Dark Knight Rises," has made exceptions such as this one in the past for big releases.

Customers should not build up their hopes for this date and instead should await a formal announcement that will be made by Warner Bros. in the near future.
