Amazon Fire HD 8 Reader's Edition Offers HD Color Display, 1 Year Kindle Unlimited; Comes With Leather Cover
The holiday rush has already started and those who are out of gift ideas might want to consider Amazon's latest version of their e-book reader. According to Tech Times, Amazon has just announced the Fire HD 8 Reader's Edition.
It's not really a new tablet but the online commerce company has added some changes into it. It's also a bit pricier than the original version but there's a reason why buyers will need to pay up an extra $100 even though the hardware isn't anything new.
In a report by PCMag Asia, the tablet will still sport the HD color display of the Fire HD 8, which originally costs $149.99. The difference between the original edition and the new Reader's Edition is that the Reader's Edition will come with one year subscription of Kindle Unlimited, which regularly cost users $10 per month. Aside from that, a limited edition "rustic brown" leather cover that resembles that of a cover of a book will also be included.
"The protective case opens like a book and folds flat for comfortable one-handed reading or can stand Fire HD in landscape or portrait orientation so that you can enjoy your content hands-free," wrote Amazon in their official product listing.
Amazon has also introduced the Blue Shade, a feature which sets the 8-inch HD color display to decrease blue light exposure at night. It also brings comfortable nighttime reading with less eye strain. The tablet is now currently available for pre-order and shipping has already begun.
The Fire HD 8 Reader's Edition will sport the same specs as the fourth-generation Fire HD 8 the company launched in September. As noted in NDTV Gadgets, its 8-inch HD display will have a 1280 x 800 resolution. It will also carry an unspecified quad-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz. It also comes with a 5-megapixel rear camera and a front camera. As for its inbuilt storage, it will come with 8 GB memory capacity that can be expanded up to 128 GB.
