Amazon Kindle Fire 7-inch tablet for only $50, consumers get what they pay for
High-end and expensive tablets are coming out left and right. But what if consumers find out that there's a tablet that will only cost them less than $50? That's what Amazon has been up to lately. According to ABC News, the largest Internet-based retailer in the United States launched a 7-inch Fire Tablet with a price tag of only $49.99. Buyers can also opt to have it in a pack of six with their buy five and get one free promo for only $249.95.
But of course, for a quad core tablet that costs as low as that, there's definitely a catch to it. Buyers will still get what they pay for. In a report by Forbes, Amazon detailed in the checkout process how they are able to maintain a low price for the tablet. They use sponsored ads that will appear on the lock screen but will not interrupt the use of device. If the buyer opts to get rid of ads, the fee to pay will be $15.
When it comes to its specs, it's a given that the Fire tablet will not be a top-of-the-line tablet, reports The Verge. Instead, it will be a very basic one with 1024x600 pixel resolution powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, which is most likely built by Mediatek, and an internal storage of 8 gigabytes. It will have one gigabyte of RAM and sport a very basic 2MP rear camera and a VGA cam on the front.
Its operating system is the latest version of OS Fire dubbed as Bellini and will have a battery lifespan of up to seven hours with average use. To expand memory storage space, a microSD card slot is available and will add up to 128GB. It will also be equipped with an update UI and new features.
The low-cost Amazon Kindle Fire tablet will be released on Sept. 30 but interested buyers can start pre-order now. The retailer is offering it with free shipping.
