Amazon Kindle Oasis News: Release Date, Price, and Specs

Amazon has been winning the race of products that would usher in the era of the smart home. As Google lags behind, it seems that Amazon is determined to keep the momentum going.

Recent reports have revealed that the tech giant has not forgotten about their Kindle lineup, despite their current focus on Alexa and the Echo products. They have unveiled the latest of their flagship, which comes in the form of the waterproof Kindle Oasis

"Ten years ago, we introduced our first Kindle with the mission of delivering any book ever written in 60 seconds or less," said Dave Limp, senior vice president, Amazon Devices and Services, in a statement. "With a larger 7-inch, 300 ppi display, waterproof design, and Audible built right in, the all-new Kindle Oasis is our most advanced Kindle ever. Its thin, light, and waterproof design allows readers to stay engaged in the author's world in even more places than ever before."

The Kindle Oasis caters to the needs of book lovers, who cannot afford to bring their books everyday, everywhere. Although Apple, Samsung, and Microsoft's tablets are perfectly capable of storing e-books, Amazon's Kindle has one advantage: it is immune to the glare of the sun, which means that users can use their e-reader under direct sunlight.

Furthermore, its waterproof design is a feature that fans have been clamoring for a long time, as many would like to be able to bring their devices to the beach or beside a swimming pool. It also features a bigger battery, which is capable of giving a reading time of up to six weeks.

The pre-orders are now available. The new Amazon Kindle Oasis is priced at $250 for the 8 GB storage version, $280 for the 32 GB version, and $350 for the cellular data-enabled, 32 GB version. It is scheduled to land in stores on Oct. 31.
