Amazon Prime Goes Online with Standalone Site
Amazon does not want its brand to be labeled as something that doesn't provide equal consumer opportunities. So after a little more than a year when it launched its one-hour delivery service for its mobile app, the giant e-commerce brand has now unveiled Prime Now's online and standalone version.
The concept of Primenow.com is to hand out clients the benefit of placing orders and get them in either one hour or two hour delivery; however, the company, at least for now, will only offer the express delivery option to existing members of the Prime program that costs $99 annually.
In a statement released to the press, Prime Now head Stephenie Landry said that the service seeks to provide the same reliability to new customers and cities, both in mobile and browser platforms.
New Standalone Site
Meanwhile, the expanded delivery service has finally been given its own website, which means that it no longer will be exclusively accessible to the mobile app. Prime subscribers who happen to be living in cities or areas where the one and two-hour delivery options are available can now avail of the service using their computers and not just mobile devices. Although there's no way for online shoppers to access it via the main e-commerce site, Amazon.com, it can be accessed right away by going to Primenow.com.
Because the service is attached to the Prime subscription, it means that those who own that subscription can get the two-hour delivery option for free. The one-hour delivery option on the other hand will cost $8, but it should be worthy if the consumer wants the product to be delivered the soonest.
Sadly, the variety of products is still limited, but all signs point to the fact that Amazon is looking at Prime Now as an integral part of its e-commerce business. As of this posting, the service includes household, health, and beauty products.
