Amber Alert for Declan Connor, 6: Police Believe Father Killed Grandmother Before Taking Boy

Osage County police in Oklahoma have issued an Amber Alert for 6-year-old Declan Connor, whom they believe was taken from the scene of a crime by his father, Robert Leroy Connor III. They have warned that Robert suffers from mental illness and could be dangerous.

The Amber Alert was issued on Tuesday night after police discovered the body of Debi Connor at her residence. She had been shot and killed by Robert, police believe, who then took his son with him. Another small boy at the house was left unharmed.

Police have not said what could have led to the murder, but family members told the press that Robert suffers from mental illness and has been off of his medication.

Debi Connor took custody of her grandson, fearing that Robert could not take care of the boy while he was off his medication. Declan's mother previously signed away custody of the boy to Robert several years ago.

Robert's uncle, Tim Connor, said that he believes Robert may be headed to his old hometown of Duncanville, Texas. Police confirmed early this morning that they located Robert in Lewisville, Texas. They have not made an arrest or taken Declan back into custody but said that they are keeping an eye on Robert.

Declan is 4-foot tall, weighs 85 pounds and has brown eyes and black hair that is short on the sides and longer on the top. His father, Robert, is 6-foot, weighs 200 pounds and has a tattoo of the letters "TT" on his left arm. He has dark brown hair cut short like a buzz cut. Police have warned that they believe he could be armed and dangerous.

Robert drives a tan 2004 Ford Crown Victoria with license plates reading 197-HNK, police said.

Anyone with information about the case or where Robert and Declan may be is asked to call 911 or the Osage County Sheriff's Office at (918) 287-3535.
