AMC confirms cult comic 'Preacher' to turn into full TV series
It's always good news when a new series is being cooked by networks. It only means that there's another show to look forward to watching to. The latest one to hit the headlines is "Preacher," an American television series adapted from the 1990 comic book series created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon.
According to Deadline, Seth Rogen, co-creator of the show, announced via Twitter that AMC will pick up drama pilot "Preacher" to series after the success of its pilot episode. Writing in his tweet, "'Preacher' is coming to AMC," the show will follow-up with 10 more episodes. Fans who saw the tweet were also given a first sneak peek through the key art that Rogen posted. The actor and filmmaker will work alongside Evan Goldberg and "Breaking Bad" alum Sam Caitlin.

As detailed in The Guardian, the series is going to be about a Texas preacher who loses faith in God. The main character, Jesse Custer, will be played by Dominic Cooper. As he struggles with relating to the parishioners in his small town, a mysterious entity dwells in him giving him a highly eccentric power. He will try to go on a journey in literally finding God. Accompanying him is his girlfriend Tulip O'Hare, who will be played by Ruth Negga from "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Together they embark on the journey until they meet an Irish vampire named Cassidy, who will be played by Joseph Gilgun.
Den of Geek reveals other characters which include Arseface/Eugene Root (Ian Colleti), a nice kid with a deformed face, Vyla Quincannon (Elizabeth Perkins), a businesswoman with a past with Jesse's father, Emily Woodrow (Lucy Griffiths), a single mother of three and has a thing for the reverend, husband and wife Betsy Schenk (Jamie Anne Allman) and Donny Schenk (Derek Wilson) and Fiore (Tom Brooke), an angel dispatched from heaven and meets Jesse.
"Preacher" is slated to launch mid-2016 and is rumored to debut in May.
