AMD, Bethesda Latest News: Bethesda Forges 'Strategic' Partnership With AMD

Game publisher Bethesda Softworks and processor creator Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) have announced a partnership in the name of advancing game technology development and reshaping the gaming landscape.

At the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2017 this week, the "Elder Scrolls' and "Fallout" publisher announced a "long-term strategic partnership" with the chipmaker. Bethesda also took to Twitter to say that its agreement with AMD will result in "unprecedented performance" for its fans.

AMD also spoke about the partnership on Twitter, stating: "Working together to deliver amazing gaming experiences, AMD is proud to announce a partnership with Bethesda."

In a press release published by AMD in its official website, the tech company explained that the multi-title agreement will be for the collaboration of the two companies in developing and accelerating the implementation of new technologies across existing Bethesda video game franchises.

This includes "the full potential of low-level APIs, such as Vulkan, and the computing and graphics power of AMD Ryzen CPUs, Radeon GPUs, and AMD server solutions."

"The close-knit strategic partnership will combine hardware, software, and game engineering talents at both companies with the creative genius of Bethesda content developers to deliver extraordinary experiences on upcoming hardware architectures," the press release says.

According to GameRant, Bethesda has had a "strong run of form" in recent years with the commercial success of its game titles such as "Fallout 4" and the special edition of "Skyrim." Other games such as "DOOM" have also been very popular and critically successful. Hence, its partnership with AMD is not surprising if the game publisher sees it as a chance to build upon its current glory.

With the partnership forged between the two companies, the gaming community will be expecting improvements that will address problems such as large frame rate drops and other performance-related issues which often plague Bethesda-released games at launch.

Bethesda currently has several projects in the works that could benefit from the game publishing company's recently announced partnership with AMD.
