AMD Ryzen Review: Fantastic for Rendering and Content Creation
The launch of the new AMD Ryzen created a rift among tech enthusiasts when it was launched last week. Since the launch, scores of reviews have been written about the Ryzen 7 1800X, 1700X and 1700. The reviews have been pretty much polarized to determine whose verdict is right. However, most reviews point out that when it comes to being a great CPU, Ryzen is near par with major competitors like Intel.
Performance-wise, the AMD Ryzen 7 1800X is slower than Intel CPUs. While its synthetic performance benchmarks that its cores are speedy enough, such does not apply to game performance. This CPU cannot be recommended for gamers who are after speed, although it is significantly cheaper compared with its major competitor, the 6900K.
When it comes to resolution, the Ryzen 5 1600X is shaping up to be a good for its low price. Considering that it has fewer cores, it has the same amount of base and turbo frequencies and L3 cache as most of its competitors in the market.
While the AMD Ryzen does not sit well with enthusiasts when it comes to speed, some reviews claim that it is perfect for rendering, video editing and other programs that require extra cores and threads. In Cinebench, the Ryzen 7 1800X has a score of 1600 points, while Intel has a score of just around 1500.
All things considered, it is difficult to say if the AMD Ryzen is better than the Core CPUs of Intel because it will depend on the consumer's budget and requirements. Considering its features and specs, this CPU will do a fantastic job if used in multi-threaded work, especially in rendering or content creation. It is also power-efficient and is perfect for gamers who game at high resolutions, although that requires extra memory for faster performance.
