'American Crime' Season 3 Spoilers: New Season to Focus on Xenophobia, Prejudice, Women's Healthcare

The new season of "American Crime" will heavily focus on the imbalanced social classes of America and will mostly be set in North Carolina. At the season 3 screening, the creators and actors behind the hit ABC series revealed that the new season will introduce storylines and topics that are parallel to the current events in the United States, including xenophobia.

Cast members Felicity Huffman, Richard Cabral, Connor Jessup and Benito Martinez graced the screening held recently, with newcomers Mickaëlle X. Bizet and Ana Mulvoy-Ten joining them. According to Huffman, season 3 will deal with social issues like prejudice and xenophobia.

Huffman revealed that series creator John Ridley and executive producer Michael McDonald had a lot to do with the changes this season, especially when it comes to the issues it tackles. "It happened with seasons 1 and 2 that it seemed not only reflective but also prescient in what it was doing. This season has to do with xenophobia," said Huffman.

The actress also added that the series will get viewers thinking, "Does someone have to lose in order for the other to win?" and "How can we stop that divisiveness and come together?"

Meanwhile, Ridley revealed that the main thing that the new series wanted to tackle is the exploitation of the American workforce, as well as reproductive rights and women's healthcare. "There is a lot of examination at what it looks like to not have power," he said.

Meanwhile, the synopsis for the premiere episode reads, "Season 3 of this anthology series begins, and is set in North Carolina, where undocumented workers toil away for little reward; a woman starts to question the methods of the family farm she married into; and a social worker tries to make a difference."

"American Crime" season 3 airs every Sunday at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
