'American Horror Story: Freak Show' News: Episode 8 'Blood Bath' Recap

"American Horror Story: Freak Show" took a breather over Thanksgiving week but came back with a shocking episode last Wednesday which saw the death of a major character on the show.

In the episode titled "Blood Bath," Gloria is getting increasingly worried about her son Dandy and his tendency to kill. She has started seeing a psychiatrist and says that she has always thought of her son as a foreigner. She remembers him killing a cat when he was younger, then after that, he also killed his first friend Emil, the gardener's son.

Meanwhile, everyone in the freak show starts looking for Ma Petite. They find pieces of her torn clothes, and Ethel suspects that Elsa might have killed her. Ethel confronts Elsa about her plans to kill the twins and accuses her of killing Ma Petite, then pulls a pistol on her and shoots her in her prosthetic leg.

Elsa then tells the story of how her leg got amputated, but Ethel is unswayed and promised to kill Elsa, and then herself. "Sorry you won't be going to Hollywood Elsa," said Ethel. "Sorry you won't be there with me," Elsa retorts, then throws a knife at Ethel, which kills her instantly.

Stanley helps Elsa with Ethel's body to make it look like she killed herself, and the freaks find Ethel with her head cut off.

Now that the freak show is short of one member, Elsa goes to Miami to recruit a new act. She meets Barbara, a heavy woman who loves to eat. She takes her to the circus and encourages her to eat some more.

Meanwhile, Gloria takes Dandy to the psychiatrist. At first, Dandy thinks that he was there to get his IQ tested, but then he gets suspicious and learns why he's there. Later, Dandy tells his mother that he knows everything about her, how she married her second cousin and gave birth to him. He points a gun to his head, and Gloria tells him, "I can't go on if you kill yourself."

"Okay," he says, then shoots his mother in the forehead.

"American Horror Story: Freak Show" airs on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on FX.
