'American Horror Story' Season 5: Darren Criss in Talks for Guest Appearance
Series creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk are tapping a "Glee" actor for a guest-starring role in the upcoming season of their hit anthology drama TV series "American Horror Story: Hotel."
According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, Darren Criss "is in talks" to appear in Hotel for a recurring "hipster" role.
Criss is rooted to play Justin, "a Silver Lake hipster who heads to the hotel on Halloween with his equally hip girlfriend to escape pesky trick-or-treaters."
After so many room service demands, the lovebirds will eventually snap the nerves of Kathy Bates' character, Iris, who will give Justin and his companion "a Halloween trick they will never forget."
In an earlier interview with Deadline.com, Murphy said that Season 5 will be "much more horror-based" than the previous instalments combined.
"It's much more dark. It's about a theme and an idea that's very close to my heart that I've always wanted to do that's a little bloodier and grislier I think than anything that we've done before; it's straight horror this year," he said.
As to where Hotel draws its inspiration from, Murphy said that they are "based in the hotel in horror movies and horror tropes" and nothing in particular as what has been rumoured earlier.
"We've researched several real-live hotels in downtown LA where absolutely horrifying things happened," he added to Deadline.
"American Horror Story: Hotel" is set to debut this October on FX.
