'American Horror Story: Hotel' News, Update: New Anthology Installment to Have a Connection With the Gordon Northcott Murder Case

The presence of the creepy, blonde ghost kids in the new trailers for the upcoming fifth season of FX's hit horror anthology drama series "American Horror Story" apparently has a connection to a true-to-life kidnapping incident.

A report from Enstarz.com said that Mare Winningham's character in "Hotel," (a laundress) has a child who was kidnapped by the infamous Gordon Northcott. The latter was the mastermind in the Wineville Chicken Coop Murders, a series of abductions, molestations, and murders of young boys that occurred between 1926 and 1928 in Los Angeles and Riverside County, California.

Citing the spoiler report from Entertainment Weekly, it is yet to be determined if the Northcott storyline will be the focus this season or will it just be a part of the laundress' past.

Nonetheless, Enstarz stipulated that the real life cases do serve an interesting similarity to that of Lady Gaga's character, Elizabeth. Known also by the name of The Countess, Elizabeth is the owner of Hotel Cortez where the story would heavily take place.

Grand-looking and opulent on the outside, the socialite turns out to have a dark secret. She kidnaps and adopts children, turning them into the creatures shown in the highlight reels. Like herself, these children have the "ancient blood virus" that makes them thirst for human blood.

The Countess' lovers, Donovan (Matt Bomer) and male model Tristan (Finn Wittrock) also share the same virus with the hotel owner.

In an earlier interview with Entertainment Weekly, co-creator Ryan Murphy clarified that although the characters have the penchant for human blood, this condition won't necessarily categorize them as vampires.

"It's not vampires. It's really a form of hemophilia in a way. There's no capes and fangs," Murphy said (via EW).

They do their deed by slitting their victim's throat using the razor sharp nails of the "chainmail gloves" they often wore. The EP, meanwhile, added that in the middle of Season 5, the show will get to explore the origin of the disease.

"American Horror Story: Hotel" premieres Wednesday, Oct. 7 on FX.
