'American Horror Story' Season 4 Spoilers: John Carroll Lynch Joins 'Freak Show'
"American Horror Story: Freak Show" added John Carroll Lynch to its cast, according to reports this week.
The "Fargo" and "Body of Proof" star will play a villain who is set to "scare the s--- out of" viewers, explained executive producer Tim Minear at Sunday's Comic-Con, according to the Hollywood Reporter. While other information about Lynch's character on the upcoming fourth installment to the FX anthology series is not known, Minear hinted that the villain will be on the same level as Season one's Rubber Man and the Minotaur in "Coven."
As previously reported, "American Horror Story: Freak Show" will be set in in Jupiter, Florida during the 1950's. Lynch joins a cast that includes returnees Sarah Paulson, Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett. Similar to Lynch, Michael Chiklis is also making his "AHS" debut this year. According "AHS" executive producer Ryan Murphy, the actor will portray "a strong man who's married to Angela Bassett ['s character]," TVLine reported.
"He has scenes with Angela and Jessica Lange and [onscreen ex] Kathy Bates," Murphy added of Chiklis. "I love the part because it's really written to be quite vulnerable, which is something I think Michael does so well – the strong man who's vulnerable. I'm very excited to see [him] tussle with all those great ladies. And he's really up for it, really excited about it."
Also during Sunday's Comic Con, other "Freak Show" characters were revealed, including Paulson's two-headed Siamese twins Bette and Dot, and Lange's Elsa Mars – a German expat who manages the freak show. Also, Bates and Bassett will portray performers Effil Darling and Desiree Dupre, respectively, while Chiklis takes on the role of Wendell Del Toredo, the ex-husband of Bates' character and the current husband of Bassett's. Other characters include Maggie (Emma Roberts) and Jimmy Darling (Evan Peters).
"AHS: Freak Show" is set to premiere on FX in October.
